Just by visitingOpencritic’s website, fans can see a score of 96 forBaldur’s Gate 3, and onMetacritic’s website, it has a metascore of 97. This is an astonishing achievement as both these sites have unanimously agreed on the fact thatBaldur’s Gate 3is the most critically acclaimed game of the year.
For those who are not aware, both Metacritic and OpenCritic come up with their scores by review aggregating. This means that they collect all the scores and ratings from different gaming publications about a particular video game, and then compile them and create an aggregated score.
Metacritic is more secretive about this process, whereas OpenCritic is more transparent. Even so, it is clear that the majority of video game critics have positively received this game, particularly for PS5.
