Brad Pitt‘s arch-rivalry with Tom Cruise stemmed from their 1994 film,Interview with the Vampirewhich made things quite awkward between the duo. There were several reasons behind the duo giving each other the cold shoulder. The former mentioned at the time that their personalities were completely different from each other which further strained their relationship.
“You gotta understand, Tom and I are… we walk in different directions,”he shared.“[Tom bugged me.] There came a point during filming when I started resenting him. He’s North Pole, I’m South.”
He continued to share that he was annoyed with the latter’s hyper-aggressive actions.
“He’s always coming at you with a handshake, where I may bump into you, I may not, you know.”
He further mentioned that the duo was having some competition while filming the film.
“There was this underlying competition that got in the way of any real conversation…”
While he praised the actor for his acting skills, he would not want to work with him. They have continued to showcase their tension on various occasions including a time when Cruise got annoyed when he learned that Pitt got a Golden Globe nomination.

“Tom expected to walk away with the award for best actor, so you may imagine his reaction when he wasn’t even on the list — he totally blew a fuse!”
However, many believed that his Golden Globe snub is the result of his previous actions as he had returned his three Golden Globe trophies forBorn on the Fourth of July,Jerry Maguire, andMagnolia.Whatsoever the reason, their relationship has continued to stay strained until now.
