Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood Warhas been releasing great episodes one after the other, making it one of the best anime series of 2023. The series is currently trending all over the internet and has earned a spectacular rating of 9.0 on IMDb. They have entered a more serious and to-the-point aspect of the series where unnecessary characters from the initial series have no role. The series focuses on more important characters who have much more impactful roles in the story.

However, the series has been able to bring back one of its most unnecessary characters that was a part of the first series. This character is Kon, a Mod soul who is responsible for taking charge of Ichigo’s human body.

Kon’s Introduction inBleach
Kon is a Modified Soul who was produced as part of Project Spearhead. His given name is Kaiz Konpaku. Kon usually takes the form of a plush lion, but he also serves as a Soul Candy pill for Ichigo Kurosaki on occasion. Kon was one of the final Mod-Souls created for Project Spearhead, an operation that created Artificial Souls designed to augment Human physiology to be placed in corpses to aid the Shinigami in their struggle against Hollows. He first appeared during the isekai period, when Rukia Kuchiki and Hollows were supernatural intrusions into Ichigo Kurosaki’s normal daily life. Kon spends most of his time in the body of a little stuffed lion.
Despite the Mod-Souls’ original programming and his numerous valuable skills, Kon primarily acts as entertaining relief. Kon had no significant role inBleach’s tale, but instead of writing him out, the story turned him into a mascot character.

Kon Gets A Role in The Post Credit Skits
Kon has always been an extra type of character, andBleachis now treating him as such. Since the end of cour 2 in the Summer 2023 anime season, there has been a post-credits comedic skit where Kon may shine. The TYBW arc has revived the post-credit practice, which was first introduced in the previous series, in a restricted manner. Such skits are the final resort for characters like Kon who would otherwise be superfluous. Kon’s comedic routine did an excellent job of providing supporters with something to cheer about. Because Kon’s comedy is limited to a post-credits skit, loyal fans can see Kon’s antics for nostalgia’s sake.
It’s nice for theBleach: Thousand-Year Blood Waranime to even include Kon at all, given that the tale is taking a more serious and climactic turn.Bleach’snew anime did a good job of limiting Kon to a post-credits skit which can give Kon’s fans a glimpse of a character keeping him confined and away from the story.
