“[He] would have ruined DH4. Few people will work with him now, and I know I will never work with him again.”

As per Uproxx, there were purported deliberations about Bruce Willis reuniting with hisArmageddonco-star for the fourth installment of theDie Hardseries. This endeavor had been in the works since the triumph of the third film,Die Hard with a Vengeance, and it had a distinct narrative at the time. Originally conceived from an original screenplay titledTears of the Sun,the film revolved around a group of individuals taken hostage by a drug syndicate in the depths of the Amazon jungle and their quest for escape.

The screenplay was slated for adjustments to accommodate Bruce Willis as John McClane, with Ben Affleck cast as the character Matt Farrell, McClane’s companion in the movie. Notably, Affleck’s portrayal of Matt was initially envisioned as less nerdy than the eventual rendition seen inLive Free or Die Hard,as the film’s direction shifted toward a more action-adventure orientation.
