Marilyn Monroe, the veteran actress known for her iconic filmography in the 1950s and 60s, has had several encounters during her career. Talking about the 1961 movie titledThe Misfits,Monroe was reported to have intentionally dropped the sheets covering her which made for an iconic Hollywood nude scene.
Talking about the details, an article in theFar Out Magazinedescribes the first nude scene of Marilyn Monroe that was ever captured and it wasn’t even planned! Stating that the shot of a naked Monroe sleeping on the bed was captured, the article clarified that the cut was never used in the final cut of the movie.
When Marilyn Monroe Intentionally Dropped Her Sheets
Starring in the 1961 film, Monroe shared the screen alongside Clark Gable, Montgomery Clift, and Eli Wallach inThe Misfits.Having a story full of complications and love-making scenes, Monroe had an intense moment of passion where she let go of the sheet that she was holding and gave Hollywood one of her first-ever nude scenes.

Recalling the incident in an article,Far Outmagazine described the event about how the iconic nude scene of Monroe came to be. Stating that in a moment of passion, the actress simply got up to get dressed, she let the sheets go but the shot was never used in the final cut of the movie.
As per the article, during an intimate scene between Clarke Gabe and Marilyn Monroe, the actress got up to dress. Although she was supposed to wear a blouse underneath the sheets and then go about her way, the actress decided to drop the sheets instead!
This was the first nude scene thatMarilyn Monroeever did. The cut of the scene was never used in the final film and as per the reports, the director even had the tape destroyed but it is not entirely true!

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the son of producer Curtis Taylor has the lost tape that was alleged to have been destroyed. As per the reports, the 45-second nude tape of Marilyn Monroe seems to have been hidden in a safe by Curtice Taylor. The producer’s son even gave reasons as to why Marilyn Monroe would choose to appear naked in that cut and it did make sense for the actress.
“why would a woman sitting up in bed, with nobody in the room, pull the sheet up and then try to put a blouse on at the same time? It makes no sense. So she just drops the sheet. I think it’s one of the reasons she did this. There are quite a few takes of this scene.”
The tape has not been released but it seems that it does exist somewhere out there. The role of Marilyn Monroe was portrayed recently by Ana de Armas in the 2022 movie titledBlonde.Allegedly depicting the real-life events of the American actress,Blondeis available to stream on Netflix.
