How to Transfer Your Netflix Profile to Another Account
Switching to a new account or joining with other people to continue your Netflix subscription? Well, the major issue when you switch from one account to another is you lose all your watch history, recommendations, lists, etc. To combat that, Netflix introduced a new profile transfer feature. In this article, we will explain how Netflix’s profile transfer feature works and how to transfer your Netflix profile to a new account or an existing account.

What’s Netflix’s Profile Transfer Feature
Netflix is cracking down on password sharing for those who are not living in the same household. So if you are sharing the Netflix password with people who live far from you, you either have to pay an additional $8/month to continue sharing the password, or you need to move to a new account or join with other people to continue Netflix.
If you consider moving to another account, Netflix’s new Profile Transfer feature will help you transfer your profile from your current account to a new account or any other existing account. That way, you’re able to switch to a new account or share Netflix with new members without forgoing your recommendations, watch history, settings, My List, etc.

Transfer Your Netflix Profile to a New Account
To transfer your Netflix profile,
1.Open theNetflix websiteand select your profile.
2.Now on the home page, click on theprofile iconat the top right corner and then select theTransfer Profileoption from the menu.
3.On the next page, click on theStart Profile Transferbutton to start the process.

4.Here select theA New accountoption and then click onNext. (If you like to transfer your profile to an existing Netflix account, then we have covered the process below).
5.Enter your email address and set the password for your new Netflix account. Once done, click on theNextbutton.

6.On the next page, choose a plan for your new Netflix account and complete the payment process.
That’s it, once the payment is done, you can use your new credentials to log in. Your Netflix profile is successfully transferred to the new account and will be the only profile on that account.

Transfer Your Netflix Profile to an Existing Account
Follow the steps below if you want to join an existing account and share your password with others instead of creating a new account and subscribing to Netflix alone.
2.Now click on theprofile iconat the top right corner and then select theTransfer Profileoption from the menu.

4.Now enable the toggle besideAn Existing Accountand click on theNextbutton.
5.Here use the email address and password of the Netflix account that you want your profile to be transferred to. Once done, click on theNextbutton.
Transfer Pin-Protected Netflix Profile
You cannot transfer child and pin-protected profiles on Netflix. But you can disable the pin on your profile to make it transferable. Here’s how you can disable the pin on your Netflix profile.
1.Open theNetflix websiteand click on theprofile iconat the top right corner. In the drop-down, select theAccountoption in the menu.
2.Now scroll down toProfile and Parental Controlssection, and click on yourprofile name.
3.In the drop-down menu, click onChangebutton beside theProfile Lockoption.
4.Now enter the Netflix password to edit the profile lock.
5.Disable the checkbox besideRequire a PIN to access the profileoption and then click onSave.
That’s it, the pin is removed. Now you can follow the above process to transfer your profile to a new account or an existing account.
Enable/Disable Profile Transfer on Netflix
Profile Transfer option is enabled on all Netflix accounts by default. But there is a way to disable profile transfer too. In case, you are not able to transfer, make sure the profile transfer feature on your account is enabled.
1.To enable, openNetflixand tap on theprofile iconat the top right corner and select theAccountoption to open account settings.
2.Scroll down to find the Settings section and click onTurn on profile transfers. (If the option is already turned on, then click on the Turn off Profile transfers option to disable it).
3.On the next page, click on theAllowbutton to turn it on. It will take around 2 days to enable and you can transfer the profile after that. Else, click on the confirmation link sent to the email address to be able to transfer the profile immediately.
4.If it’s already turned on, then click on theTurn off profile transferbutton to turn it off instantly.
Delete Your Profile on Previous Account
When you transfer the profile to another account, Netflix will not automatically delete your profile in the previous account. If you don’t want your profile over there, you have to delete it manually.
1.Open theNetflix websiteand click on theManage Profilesbutton.
2.Now click on the profile you want to delete.
3.It opens the profile settings. Here scroll down and click on theDelete Profilebutton.
4.On the next page, again click on theDelete Profilebutton to successfully delete it.
- What data will be transferred via the Netflix profile transfer feature?
Netflix transfers everything like profile name and icon, recommendations, view history, continue watching list, My List, settings, game saves, and game handle. Pretty much everything you need. But, it will not transfer the payment details or cards if you have used any on your previous Netflix account.
- Can we duplicate a Netflix profile within the same account?
Profile transfer cannot be used to duplicate a profile in the same Netflix account. But, you can transfer your profile to another account, change the name of the profile there and then transfer the profile back to your account. That way, you can duplicate the profile in the same account. However, game saves and game handle will only be available on the newly created profile, not on the old profile.
Transferring Netflix Profile
We can use Netflix’s transfer profile feature whenever we want to switch for any reason and not just because of password sharing. Once someone is out of your account, their profile will still be active on your Netflix account and also they can log in back with the same password.
