With the release ofKingsman: The Secret Service, the world was introduced to a new secret agency and new agents ready to save the world from evil. And leading that franchise was none other than Taron Egerton, also known in the franchise as Eggsy. With his slightly offbeat yet charming performance as agent Galahad, the star was able to make his character iconic.

And as his popularity grew, so did his demand in the industry, until one day, he was rumored to be a contender for the role of Wolverine in the MCU. Although the rumors just seem to be gaining some traction,Kingsmanfranchise director Matthew Vaughn believes that he will fit way better in the DC universe as a villain named Lex Luthor.
Matthew Vaughn Believes That Taron Egerton Should Play Lex Luthor In The DCU
Most popular for his role as Gary Unwin, a.k.a Eggsy, codename Agent Galahad in the superhit spy/action franchiseKingsman,Taron Egertonmade a name for himself as one of the most talented stars in the industry. And if that wasn’t enough, he also played the role of legendary music artist Elton John in his hit filmRocketman.
And now, seeing his dynamic performances in the industry, many are suggesting him to play Wolverine in the MCU. But it seems likeMatthew Vaughn, who collaborated with the star in theKingsmanfranchise has a different outlook for him.

In a recent interview withVariety, theLock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrelsproducer talked about his pitch of a Superman trilogy to Warner Bros. that never saw the light of day and about his take on the superhero. Here, he also addressed the rumors that Egerton could be next in line to replace Hugh Jackman for his most iconic role as the OG Mutant in the MCU.
While he said he would definitely want to see who becomes that next Wolverine, he also stated that theTetrisstar will be much better suited for the role of Lex Luthor, one of Superman’s most fearsome foes ever. He said:

“He’d be better asLex Luthor, He’d be an amazingLuthor. He shouldn’t beWolverine. I don’t think he’s right for it. You got to really go back to the comic. Hugh is brilliant asWolverine, but I’d go back to the what the comics are… [he’s] small, grizzly, tough guy. Hugh has made it so iconic that if you go into that version… no.Taronwould make an amazing, intelligent villain.”
Looking at his performance as a quick-witted and street-smart but equally intelligent Eggsy, the role of Lex Luthor doesn’t seem that far-fetched for him.

What Is Next For Matthew Vaughn?
Recent reports have suggested that theX-Men: First Classdirector was in conversation with the CEOs of DC Films James Gunn and Peter Safran, which makes us believe that he may be part of an upcoming project in the DCU.
Apart from that, he is also the creator of the upcoming spy/thrillerArgyllewhich is set to star Henry Cavill in the lead role. Along with that, there are also reports of a new project being developed for theKingsmanfranchise.
