While remembering their first time meeting, the actress revealed how she had felt ignored by their co-star Jesse Eisenberg and Garfield being the gentleman he is quickly rose to his defense, stating that the actor was probably in character.

Andrew GarfieldandDakota Johnsonco-starred in the movieThe Social Networkabout a decade ago. Although they had no scenes together and Johnson only had a small role in the movie, playingJustin Timberlake‘s love interest, they did actually meet on the set of the movie.

While talking about their first time meeting after reuniting in an interview withVanity Fair, theMadame Webstar recalled,
“You and Jesse were so busy in that movie and I was obviously in for four seconds. And I remember having sitting down with you guys when you were having lunch one day, and you asked me loads of questions. You were really nice – and Jesse didn’t acknowledge me. He was probably in character.”

Just then, Garfield too jumped to the defence of their co-star,Jesse Eisenbergstating,
“Oh boy, I don’t know. I feel like I need to defend him [Jesse] in some way. There was maybe some of the Zuckerberg coming through in that moment.”

While the two actors have reconnected, Dakota is now all set to take Sony’s spider universe forward with her soon-to-be-released movie,Madame Webb.

After Andrew Garfield’sThe Amazing Spider-Manmovies, Sony seems to be pretty serious about making its own Spider Universe come true. The studio recently released the trailer for its Spider-Man spinoff movie,Madame Webbstarring Dakota Johnson.
Madame Webb is a character from the Marvel comics who has had regular contact with Spider-Man and even knows his true identity, Peter Parker. Over various issues, the two have continued to seek help and assist each other.
The trailer apparently makes it clear that there are more characters on the way, possibly giving Sony a chance to expand the Spider Universe with multiple stories and characters. Furthermore, seeing the trailer and the relationship between Spider-Man and Madame Webb in the Marvel comics, fans have been anticipating that perhaps the studio might finally be willing to give Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker another chance.
Madame Webbwill be released on June 14, 2025.
