James Gunn’s DCU has been announcing a slew of castings ever since the writer’s strike has ended. For Superman: Legacy, the film and the director have almost found their Lex Luthor. After the lul that was 2023 in terms of movie releases, studios are focused on attracting interest back from the audience, which has found entertainment with the competition, such as video games, television, and music.
AN actor in the running for Lex Luthor is Nicholaus Hault, the actor who essayed the role of Beast/Hank McCoy in the X-Men prequels/sequels. The actor had previously auditioned for Superman in Superman: Legacy and Batman in The Batman, but now might essay the role of one of the greatest villains in the DC universe.

Nicholaus Hoult was not the first choice for Lex Luthor
As is true for any important casting choice, directors and casting directors go through multiple artists before setting on a role. Before Nicolas Hoult was in the running for the character, James Gunn allegedly approached an old collaborator of his, who is also a Marvel alum and has a close relationship with Gunn.
James Gunn allegedly approached Rocket Racoon actor Bradley Cooper for the role of Lex Luthor on Hoult, This, if true, reveals the kind of direction that Superman: Legacy will be taking with his character. The film already feels a little oversaturated, with the Authority and The Engineer cast and slated to make an appearance, the film might see Luthor building a team to combat Superman, following the man’s exploits since way before he appeared in Metropolis.

The support for Nicholas Hoult is exponential.

While Bradley Cooper would have played a very rugged Lex Luthor, Hoult’s Luthor would bring a sophistication that the character has yet to see in his live-action adaptation. The actor would also look great, facing off against David Corenswet’s Superman.
