Hollywood has faced a long time criticism for following stereotypes when it comes to looking for their leading stars. And the industry has not spared stars like Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling from it too. TheIndiana Jonesactor, who will soon be seen playing the role in his last film in the action-adventure franchise, has shared that he never assumed that he would become such a huge star after entering the film industry, as he never thought that he would be offered a leading role.

Harrison Ford Did Not Believe He Could Land Leading Roles
Starting his acting career in the 1960s,Harrison Fordstarred in multiple TV shows and films. He had his big break inGeorge Lucas‘ 1977 filmStar Wars, in which he starred as Han Solo. Ford gained massive widespread recognition with the sci-fi movie, and he finally started getting more offers.
However, before the 1977 film,The Fugitiveactor never believed that he could become one of the leading stars in Hollywood. During his recent interview with People, Ford shared that he never thought that he had the potential to be a“leading man”in Hollywood.

He shared that he just wanted financial stability from his acting career and did not want to rely on any side hustle to make a living.“I really was just hoping I could make a living as an actor and not have to supplement my income with some other side hustle,”he said.
He further stated,“I thought I would be lucky to have a character part on a regular TV show.”The actor might have felt this way due to the standards set for a leading man in the film industry. And he is not the only one who has faced such issues in the initial days of his career.

Ryan Gosling Was Told He Didn’t Have Leading Man Qualities
Ryan Gosling has worked in the film industry from a young age. From being a Disney star and working in Independent films, he gained mainstream recognition after starring in the 2004 romantic dramaThe Notebook.And during a GQ cover story, the actor revealed the reason he was cast in the film.
“[Director Nick Cassavetes ] straight up told me: ‘The fact that you have no natural leading man qualities is why I want you to be my leading man,”he revealed during the interview. While the concept of the perfect leading man in movies has also been one of the gender stereotypes in Hollywood movies, it has not been able to stop talented actors like Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford from proving and establishing themselves among the leading stars of the industry.
