Famously known to work with actors who can grasp the depth of his understanding of a story, Nolan has made a few changes this time around.
Oppenheimerhas put together a cast that does not follow the traditional pattern that Nolan likes to follow. After almost two decades of working together, Cillian Murphy made his way as the lead.

Marvel Studios becoming a conglomerate hasRobert Downey Jr.to thank. WithIron Man(2008), Marvel positioned itself to be the most successful and sought-after franchise to work with.
After his last heroic act inAvengers: Endgame,Downey Jr’s potential could only be justified by working alongside a brand as huge as Nolan himself.

Christopher Nolan Wants To Work With Robert Downey Jr. Again
It comes as no surprise that Downey Jr. had such a huge impact on Nolan that he would probably miss no chance to collaborate with the 58-year-old actor again. He added –
“I’ve been waiting for the project, and I know he has too, where we can collaborate with him as the lead, and I could put the most enormous weight – cinematic weight – on his shoulders, and watch him carry that burden.”
Just a little glimpse of his character that we saw from the initial trailer was enough to highlight the sweeping performance that we would get to witness.
Coming out of the titanium suit and jumping onto ship Nolan must have been a drastic change for Downey Jr, but he had already shouldered the weight of the MCU for a decade.
