Renowned American actor Tom Sizemore is recognized for his notable contributions to numerous remarkable films over his career; however, he has often garnered more attention for his struggles with addiction. Despite his involvement in a range of impressive movies, Sizemore’s reputation has been overshadowed by his battles with substance abuse.
Previously, during an interview, the actor recalled an incident in which he got involved in an on-set altercation with his co-star, Val Kilmer. However, the actor later clarified that they were able to resolve their differences amicably.
Tom Sizemore got into an altercation with Val Kilmer
Tom Sizemore and Val Kilmer first joined forces for the 1995 filmHeat. The movie achieved significant success, and their collaboration proved to be fruitful. Years later, the two actors reunited for the 2000 filmRed Planet.However, their working relationship wasn’t as smooth during that time. Reportedly, there was on-set tension between Kilmer and Sizemore while filmingRed Planet.
Some reports suggested that Kilmer was upset about the production paying to ship Tom Sizemore’s exercise equipment to Australia during the making of the film. This particular incident added to the strained relationship between the two actors.

Sizemore mentioned in his memoir,By Some Miracle I Made It Out of There, that a heated argument between him and Kilmer escalated into a shouting match. In the heat of the moment, Sizemore apparently threw a 50-pound weight at Kilmer, although he missed his target. Further, a producer intervened after this altercation.
The producer reportedly advised Sizemore to avoid hitting Kilmer in the face if they were to engage in another intense fight. During an interview, when Sizemore was asked about any significant professional regrets he might have had, to which the actor replied by saying,
” I never fucked up on a movie set, but as far as choices, probably Red Planet. I got into it with Val [Kilmer] on the set and I told him, “I’ve never gone to another planet with you again!”
Though the actor further claimed that later, the two resolved their differences amicably.
Sizemore passed away on June 20, 2025, at the age of 61.
