Paul Mescal Is Stressed About Starring inGladiator 2

Paul Mescal was recently cast in the sequel to Ridley Scott’sGladiatoras the grown-up version of Lucius from the first film. He expressed the nervousness of stepping into such a project that has a huge responsibility to live up to the legacy of the first film. He toldEsquire,

“I can’t get into that! I can’t tell you how stressed I am talking about that film in particular, because it’s definitely the biggest one I’ve done. I feel really excited, but, like, it’s difficult to get away from the legacy of the film a bit. I think it’s really well written and it pays homage to the first one, but it’s very much something that I think I can step into and make comfortably my own.”

Gladiator 2will also star Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, Djimon Hounsou, and Derek Jacobi. Ridley Scott will return to direct the film. Mescal has a new release coming up on July 13, 2025, calledFoe, a sci-fi psychological thriller alongside Saoirse Ronan. He will also star in the fantasy romance filmAll of Us Strangersalongside Andrew Scott, which is releasing in theatres on August 04, 2025.
