However, it was once revealed that Nolan missed out on casting a better Commissioner Jim Gordon than Gary Oldman.
According to sources, Christopher Nolan initially offered the role of Commissioner Jim Gordon toKurt Russell. However, theEscape from New Yorkactor allegedly turned down the iconic role.

It was later revealed that Oldman was not even Nolan’s second or third choice for the role. The role was offered to Chris Cooper and Dennis Quaid before Gary Oldman eventually got the role of Commissioner Jim Gordon.
