How Lucid Air Electric Car Trumps Tesla Model S Long Range

For several years now, Tesla has had the crown of being the longest-range electric car on the market. Its premium Model S Long Range easily manages 390 miles on a single charge.

Lucid Air electric car defeated the Tesla Model S in terms of range by installing a bigger battery pack. Currently, the Lucid Air sedan offers 400 miles of range using a 130 kWh battery pack. Essentially, delivering a consumption rate of 3.07 miles/kWh.

Meanwhile, the Tesla Model S Long Range with a 100 kWh battery delivers 390 miles of EPA range, subsequently giving an efficient consumption figure of 3.9 miles/kWh.

Lucid Air EV may offer more range, but the Tesla Model S is still the most efficient electric car on the market.

Lucid Air EV Should You Buy One?

In an interview with FullyCharged, Rawlinson confirmed his ambition to reach a consumption figure of 5 miles/kWh.

He also mentioned that currently, Lucid Air offers 4 miles/kWh efficiency. But as we saw with the EPA figures, the actual efficiency is lower than claimed.

Lucid Air is offered in two variants, an entry-level $60,000 version with 400 BHP and 240 miles of range, and a top-spec $100,000 model with 600 HP and 400 miles of battery range.

In terms of performance, the top-spec version has a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 2.5 seconds.

Anyone looking for a long-range EV that isn’t a Tesla can opt for the Lucid Air electric car. It might not have the efficiency of Tesla, but it makes up for it by having a big battery and arguably a more luxurious interior.
