Stars are often treated as people who should be given all the attention in the world, and most of the time, most of them warrant it with their persona and reputation. But sometimes, they are also the target of unruly and disrespectful behavior. Mark Ruffalo, one of the premier actors in the industry today, was once subjected to this unsavory treatment.

Before he became one of the integral players of the MCU as an Avenger, he was finding success in standalone indie films, and one of them happened to be 2007’s mystery/crime filmZodiac. While his performance in that film is still loved by the audience, one studio executive lashed out and said that if he wanted to be a part of this project, then he should shut up and take what was given to him.
Mark Ruffalo Reveals An Executive That Didn’t Care If He Was InZodiacOr Not
The reign of the MCU has brought about the introduction of many stars in the industry as certified icons of Hollywood, andMark Ruffalois one of them. But just before the first film of the cinematic juggernaut was about to grace the cinema scene, we saw the star, along withRobert Downey Jr.in 2007’sZodiac.
But Ruffalo’s praiseworthy performance may as well have been non-existent, as a studio executive of Paramount Pictures didn’t care about whether he was in the film or not.

In a recent interview profile withHigh Snobiety, theNow You See Mestar opened up about the days before he became Bruce Banner in the cinematic universe. He recalled a very jarring incident that occurred with him when the compensation negotiations were happening between his manager and Paramount’s negotiator who was overlooking theZodiacproduction.
Ruffalo revealed that since he was still an upcoming star, the exec saw his payment as more than necessary, and the negotiation a waste of time. Thus, he very rudely called him out and said that nobody wanted him in this film and that he could just take it or leave it. He said:

“I’ll never forget when they were negotiating my deal, the studio negotiator literally said to my manager, ‘Look, we don’t give a sh*t aboutMark Ruffalo, we don’t even wantMark Ruffaloin this movie, so you’re going to take what we’re offering you or forget it,’”
These were some harsh words, borderline disgusting, especially for an actor who uplifted the entire quality of the film with his unforgettable performance along with his co-stars.

What WasZodiacAbout?
The film was an adaptation of the infamous and horrific Zodiac Murder cases that the city of San Francisco witnessed in the late 1960s and ’70s.
