The only thing that is constant in the entertainment industry these days is the presence of the MCU, and for good reason. Branching out to the small-screen entrainment space, Marvel Studios managed to capture the attention of the audience on all fronts, making their franchise the premier form of cinema and TV today.

And with the Disney+ shows and mini-series connecting to the wider narrative of the MCU with their films, it becomes even more important to also pay attention to their execution. This was something that Marvel Entertainment did not see happening with them by the cinematic juggernaut asAgents of  S.H.I.E.L.D.didn’t know about the invasion of HYDRA into their ranks until they sawCaptain America: The Winter Soldier.

Marvel Studios Didn’t Bother To TellAgents OfS.H.I.E.L.D.About One Major Plot Twist

When they say everything is connected in the MCU, they mean it to the dot. Every major and/or minor thing that happens in any of Marvel Studios’ projects is connected to the main storyline, and PresidentKevin Feigemakes sure everything stays tight and well-connected. That may be the case today, but the TV department wasn’t shown much love by the company before.

In fact, Marvel Entertainment was so much of an afterthought that their flagship seriesAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.didn’t even know how their entire narrative would change in the future until they saw it executed by Marvel Studios.

In a report about these incidents fromMCU: The Reign Of Marvel Studios, it was stated that the cast of the show had no idea that their Season One finale would be connected to the events ofCaptain America: The Winter Soldier. In fact, the plot twist about the organization being infiltrated by members of HYDRA was something that they learned when they were early screening the film.

Along with this, it was also reported that the famous cameo ofSamuel L. Jacksonas his iconic character of Director Nick Fury in the season one finale had to be pleaded by Marvel Entertainment with the studios to allow him to make an appearance. These are just a couple of incidents where the MCU showed its utter disregard for its small-screen entertainment division.

Where Does Marvel Studios Sit With Its Small Screen Division Today?

After the end ofAvengers: Endgame,we saw Marvel Studios closing down and incorporating Marvel Entertainment into the MCU, which led to the creation of several Disney+ shows and mini-series that are more cohesively connected to the events of the main storyline.

But even with some very quality shows that elevate the anticipation and excitement for the next film in the MCU, very few have managed to stand out from the rest and make their own identity in the franchise.Lokiis by far one of the best examples of this, where the show has managed to critically charm the audience with its paradoxically connected yet standalone nature of the show.
