Fans may have been surprised by Hill’s untimely demise in the Disney+ series, and what was more shocking was that it was a Skrull disguised as Nick Fury who killed her. Now, if Hill is already out of the picture, how can the character return to the big screen?

Cobie Smulders Addresses Possible Appearance InThe Marvels
In her interview withThe Hollywood Reporter, actressCobie Smuldersexpressed her gratitude for her decade-long collaboration with Marvel Studios. Playing Maria Hill inThe Avengers(2012), Smulders had the opportunity to appear in five more movies and three series. She stated:
“This has been an amazing run. What a dream job. On paper, the credits are great, but … every production I’ve done has been an absolute blast with amazing people. So I really don’t have anything to complain about.”
Now that her character has made its exit, Smulders responded to the question of whether the studio gave her a hint of a possible return in future franchises. She admitted:
“That’s sort of for them to decide. I will always answer the call, but I have no idea what they have planned for future productions. But I guess anything’s possible in the multiverse.”

Following her rumored return inBrie Larson’sThe Marvels, Smulders addressed the issue viaEntertainment Weekly:
“I mean, I do not make those decisions. I’m still working on [Disney Channel’s] ‘Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur’ animated show — I literally recorded some episodes today. So I have no idea how or when she’s going to come back around to me, but I’m always welcoming the call.”
As Smulders stated, she is very much willing to take on the role of Maria Hill anytime in the future once she gets the call.

Maria Hill’s Rumored Return Baffles Marvel Fans
Fans may get confused as to how Maria Hill’s return to the franchise would fit in the timeline after she died inSecret Invasion. WithTHRrevealing that Smulders will reportedly reprise her role inThe Marvels, there is only one thing to make certain of – confirm ifThe Marvelstakes place before or afterSecret Invasion.
Speaking withEmpiremagazine,Samuel L. Jacksonsaid that both projects are interconnected. The actor revealed:
“This series has to happen so that The Marvels can happen. All these things are connected in an interesting sort of way.”
Now, this has made things even more confusing. But, of course, this is MCU, and they have done a lot of similar timeline jumps in the past that worked out fine. An alternate solution would be a Skrull pretending to be Agent Hill like inSpider-Man: Far From Home.
