Oscar-winner Mel Gibson has had incredibly humble career beginnings in the Australian film industry and has given out some incredible films, both as an actor and director. He found fame in theMad Maxtrilogy created by the very talented George Miller. It was after this he rose to prominence in the US, starring in theLethal Weaponseries, that Gibson reached stardom.
He hit the jackpot back in 95 with both his acting and directorial attempt with the period pieceBraveheart. With this success, he went on to direct more films that found controversial success, such asThe Passion of the ChristandApocalypto.
We are all quite aware of Mel Gibson’s achievements in Hollywood. But, some mistakes can get the best of us. The actor’s fall began back in 2006 when he was first seen passing sexist remarks at female police officers. Not just that, he was also heard abusing and threatening his ex-girlfriend over voicemail.

Both films were released back in 2016, but as we are going through an era of comic-book film adaptations and high-octane superhero action flicks, making period pieces and method films is probably highly risky.

He called out big franchises and their superhero films and said –
“There is a difference between a comic-book superhero and a real-life hero. Real heroes don’t wear spandex.”
Frustrated withBvS,Mel Gibson even went on to call the film,“a piece of sh*t.”
He Is Baffled By How These Franchises Are Even Doing It
With a modest budget of $40 million, Gibson filmedHacksaw Ridge.But as he talked about the big-budget franchise films that sometimes put half a billion dollars into making, he just can’t help but get baffled.
Speaking with Deadline, he shared –
“I mean I scratch my head, really baffled. Maybe if I give these green screens a chance, I’d see things differently, but there’s still a lot of waste I think.”
“Maybe you could do it for less, I wouldn’t know. But, spending so outrageously, I can’t figure out how you guys recover after giving half of it to exhibitors and the taxman.”
