Michelle Rodriguez On Turning Down TheAvatar: The Way of Water

In the 2009 blockbuster movieAvatar, Michelle Rodriguez played the role of Trudy Chacon, a skilled pilot who works for a military contractor that is trying to exploit the resources of the planet Pandora. Her character is depicted as courageous and is ultimately shown dead in the explosion.

In an interview, theLostactress revealed that when James Cameron approached her to bring back her character in the sequel, she refused immediately as she felt that she has been resurrected from death in several other franchises in the past includingFast & Furious, and thus decided to not come back in theAvatar: The Way of Water.

Michelle Rodriguez On Her Character’s Dubious Deaths

TheFast & Furiousactress revealed her explanation for the comeback of her character in the sequels of several franchises after being shown dead in their prequels.Michelle Rodriguezadded that her character generally lacks a love interest in most of her movies and thus the makers have no idea whether her character should be brought back in the sequels or not.

“I don’t understand, it’s so weird. I guess they don’t know what to do with the girl who doesn’t have a boyfriend. ‘she doesn’t have a boyfriend. Should we keep her alive, or kill her?”
