When it comes to the world of cinema, the genres under which films are made are vast and spread apart, but still, the action genre is the one that has probably made most of the impact on the audience members. And one of the stars leading this genre is none other than Tom Cruise, who has made a name for himself as one of the most prominent action stars of all time.

Tom Cruise

Along with being an icon for performing some of the deadliest stunts in cinema history of his own volition, the star has this one unique quirk that can be noticed in almost any of his films, which is his solo runs. But while many may think that he does this on purpose, it seems like the truth may be something more simple.

Reason Behind Tom Cruise’s Ban Of His Co-Stars Running Alongside Him

Most popular for his adrenaline-pumping action flicks like theTop GunandMission: Impossiblefranchises, there’s no denying thatTom Cruiseis one of the biggest action stars of all time. And while deadly stunts are his staple diet in his movies, the audience also knows about this peculiar thing that he has repeated in many of his films, which is his solo running shoots that often have no one else besides him in the shots.

Many people have hypothesized that the reason why none of his co-stars ever sprinted at top speed alongside him is because he has banned them, which can be because he fears that they might be faster than him and leave him in the dust. But in a past interview, Cruise’sThe Mummyco-star Annabelle Wallis revealed that the reason is pretty simple, and it is that theJack Reacherstar is just insanely fast for anyone to keep up. So far, she’s the only one who was able to run alongside him on-screen. In the interview, she said:

“I got to run on screen with him, but he told me no at first. He said, ‘Nobody runs on screen [with me],’ and I said, ‘But I’m a really good runner. So, I would time mytreadmillso that he’d walk in and see me run. And then he added all these running scenes. So, that was it. It was, like, better than an Oscar. I was so happy! I was so happy that I got to run on-screen with Tom Cruise.”

To give you an idea of just how inhuman his speed is, the star was once observed stating that he has been clocked at a crazy 17 Miles Per Hour top speed.

What’s Next For Tom Cruise?

Even in recent years, the star has managed to maintain these iconic traits that have made him popular, and it seems like he has no intentions of stopping anytime soon. At the age of 61, Cruise is still making headlines, the most recent being with the seventh installment of his blockbusterMission: Impossiblefranchise, which has already begun the production of its second part. Along with this, there are many reports that suggest that one of his future films will be shot in Earth’s orbit, which will be another milestone added to his resume.
