Will Pluto be getting renewed for a second season?
Netflixconsiders a ton of factors before approving renewal for a series. This includes the number of audiences and the drop-off rate. Some shows get quick renewals, while others get canceled in an instant.Plutohas been showered with immense praise from audiences and critics because of its dark storyline, action sequences, and beautiful animation. This might look like a positive ordeal with everything on track for a renewal, but there’s more.
There is a massive reason as to why the series might not get a second season. The anime has already covered all of the source material from the manga. Pluto’s manga began serialization on 25 August 2025 and ended on 11 June 2025. The plot stretches over 65 chapters and eight volumes. Even the manga’s writer and illustrator, Urasawa, has not worked on a sequel to the series.

If Netflix approves a renewal, then we may see a different plot altogether, such as a different era or a prequel.

When will Pluto Season 2 be released?
The plot of the series follows Gesicht, a robot detective working for Europol. It is trying to solve the mystery behind a series of global deaths affecting both robots and humans. There is a link between all the victims, that is, the presence of objects stabbed or positioned into their heads, resembling horns. The case turns thrilling as the probability of the suspect being a robot comes to light. It also implies the first-ever incident where a robot has killed a human, which makes the story much more interesting.
There hasn’t been any official confirmation regarding the release date of the second season. We don’t even know if Netflix will approve to renew the show. However, we can only speculate the release date of season 2 around mid-2025.
