The Powerpuff Girls are making the live-action leap and the casting is finally out! For months we had been wondering who would be taking on the roles of the three super-powered sisters. The revelation of the three actresses that will lead the new series was made on Tuesday by the American television network CW.Agents of SHIELDstar Chloe Bennet will star inPowerpuff Girlsalongside Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault. Ordered to piloted by The CW, the series will be based on the original Cartoon Network animated series and characters created by Craig McCracken, Heather Regnier, and Diablo Cody.
The new series is set to revolve around its titular characters, the Powerpuff Girl, who used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes, who have now grown up and are in their twenty-somethings. They are disillusioned and resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting. Will the trio agree to reunite now that the world is in dire need of them?
Dove Cameron will be taking over the role of Bubbles Utonium who won America’s hearts as a child. Even as an adult, she hasn’t lost her charm. Her persona has been heightened with an unexpected amount of toughness and wit. Bubbles in her 20s is said to be more inclined towards regaining her lost fame than saving the worldCameron has previously been seen on Disney Channel’sLiv & Maddiewhere she enacted Liv Rooney and won a Daytime Emmy. She has also been seen in Disney’sDescendantsand NBC’sHairspray Live.
Playing the role of Blossom is the American actress Chloe Bennet. Many young fans would be able to relate to Blossom’s character who was previously an A-grader but now suffers from major anxiety. The rebellious badass buttercup is being played by Yana Perrault. She seems all tough from the exterior but deep inside is super sensitive. Buttercup in her adulthood is trying hard to lose her Powerpuff Girl identity. Perrault was very recently seen on Broadway in the Alanis Morissette musicalJagged Little Pill.Before the pandemic, the singer was poised to join the cast ofHamilton.
