As if James Gunn wasn’t embroiled deep in endless controversy already, he just got yet another target to look out for as fans have been calling him out on his apparent nepotism. While it merely started as speculation and debate amongst people on the internet, the question of Gunn misusing his professional authority to favor his wife has quickly turned into a wildfire of allegations against the DC Studios co-head pinned by fans.

Meanwhile,Furydirector David Ayer seems to have taken the line of defense, as the 55-year-old rushed to Gunn’s rescue on Twitter, preaching the classic ‘haters gonna hate’ tune to keep said rumors of nepotism at bay. OneSuicide Squaddirector to another, perhaps.

DavidAyer Defends James Gunn Against Nepotism Controversy
When a Twitter user asked James Gunn to“stop putting his wife in every DC project,”the latter responded to it by claiming how 2021’sThe Suicide Squadwas the only ever DC film that he actively cast Jennifer Holland in.“I had nothing to do with the casting of any other movie – anything else was shot a year or so ago while I was deep in Vol 3,”theGuardians of the Galaxydirector stated.
He even went ahead to say that the only reason why people are attacking him on his seemingly nepotistic actions was because they are“deeply in need of reasons to hate.”Backing him up on that particular statement,Suicide Squadfilmmaker David Ayer hopped on the social networking site to further defend DCU’s co-CEO.

Talking about the“high road of positivity and creation,”Ayer remarked how there will always be people devoted to taking“cheap shots”at others. He then praised Gunn, 56, for making“the hardest job in Hollywood”look like a piece of cake, subtly hinting toward the latter’s plights and toils with regard to his work.
