The Academy Award-nominated Hollywood star, Sylvester Stallone is best known for his portrayal of tough and gritty characters, in his action-packed movies. Often known for his infamous roles as Rocky and Rambo, Stallone remains one of the most respected actors in the action genre.
However, there’s a lesser-known fact about Sylvester Stallone, regarding his choice of projects. Apparently, after experimenting with different genres, from sci-fi to comedy, Stallone once tried his luck in horror-themed movies. Nonetheless, the horror genre didn’t work well for him, and his movies didn’t make it to the silver screen.

Sylvester Stallone Desired To Work In Horror Themed Projects
Making a successful Hollywood career as an action star,Sylvester Stalloneis still known for his gritty roles as Rambo and Rocky. However, the actor also tried his luck in sci-fi and comedy movies. But unfortunately, every time his attempts sent him back to his regular action genre. Nonetheless, the actor didn’t lose hope, as he later desired to appear in horror flicks.
Trying to experiment with his career, the veteran actor, although never made any straight-up horror movies, the closest he came was to his 2002 movie,Eye See YouAKAD-Tox.However, following his appearance in the 2002 movie, Stallone got intrigued by the genre and wished to work in the same. Thereafter, the actor got engaged with a thrilling James Byron Huggins’ novel to turn it into a movie calledHunter.
Later on, trying to be loyal to his character as Rambo, Sylvester Stallone decided to famously adaptHunterasRambo V: The Savage Hunt. However, working on the script for 20 years and giving creative input to the story while the novel was being written, Stallone somehow failed to bring his horror flick to the silver screen.

Despite swapping out Hunter for Rambo, and filling the movie with unkillable monsters in the Arctic, Sylvester Stallone failed to deliverRambo V: The Savage Hunt. Finding it hard to match the monster killing storyline with the originalRambofranchise, where the traumatized veteran declares war, the actor’s idea, unfortunately, took the backseat.
Since Stallone has been working on the script for 20 years, he discussed his idea during several interviews. And surprisingly in doing so, the actor received an awkward fan reaction, which led him to quickly drop his idea, to maintain the popularity of theRambofranchise. Thus, as fans didn’t appreciate the idea of Rambo battling a monster, Sylvester Stallone offered his audience what they wanted.
After years of playing the iconic action hero, Stallone finally ended his franchise withRambo: Last Blood, which was originally supposed to beRambo V: The Savage Hunt.Failing to derive appreciation from fans over his monster-killing storyline, Stallone came up with the typicalRamboseries plot and his trademark knife. However, the actor never dropped the idea of makingHunter.
