While the director is open to these kinds of options, he does not want people to touchThe Nightmare Before Christmas.

Tim Burton Says No To The Possibility Of A Sequel ForThe Nightmare Before Christmas

During his interview withEmpire, directorTim Burtontalked aboutTheNightmare Before Christmasin celebration of its 30th anniversary, asserting that the film is very dear to him and he does not want any sequels:

“To me, the movie is very important. I’ve done sequels, I’ve done other things, I’ve done reboots, I’ve done all that sh*t, right? I don’t want that to happen to this.”

He acknowledged the support of fans for the movie, though he firmly reiterated that this franchise is his property, and like an old man wanting to protect his land, he would do anything to drive off anyone who would dare touch it:

“It’s nice that people are maybe interested [in another one], but I’m not. I feel like that old guy who owns a little piece of property and won’t sell to the big power-plant that wants to take my land. ‘Get off of my land! You pesky little… You ain’t getting this property! I don’t care what you want to build on it. You come on my property… Where’s my shotgun?’”

The filmmaker also raved about his fondness for Jack Skellington, a character that is “perceived as dark, but is really light”:

“Those are the kinds of things that I love, whether it’s [Edward] Scissorhands or Batman, characters that have that. It represented all those feelings that I had. I was perceived as this dark character when I didn’t feel that way. So it was a very personal character.”

Personally id just like a remake. Nothing bad with the original, but like with older star wars i think a remake would benefit from modern tech and effects. Bad take im sure but i would think it’d be sick with some stuff akin to kubo and box trolls
