While fans have been anticipating getting a sequel to this thrilling movie, the director of the film Shawn Levy has expressed his opinions on why he never made a follow-up sequel stating he didn’t feel he had another great plot that could match or toped the original flick. In 2022, Levy confirmed that the upcoming spin-off series is in the works and development.

He further opened up about what the fans have been waiting to hear for a long time: if he would delight the audiences with the much-anticipated sequel in the future. In an interview, when asked if Hugh Jackman would reprise his role in the upcoming show as Charlie Kenton, to this, the director replied by teasing the possibility of a movie sequel as well, saying,

Hugh Jackman’s Movie Director Says a Sequel Has Been in Talk Lately

In a previous interview, director Shawn Levy shared that a sequel to his 2012 filmReal Steelhas been in the talk lately because of the attention it garnered following its streaming on Netflix in 2020. Levy has previously confirmed that an upcoming spin-off series is in the works, but fans await to watch a big-screen sequel starringHugh Jackmanas Charlie Kenton. He shared:

“It has been in my mind and in conversation a lot lately. Maybe because of the fact that when Netflix started streaming it during the lockdown, it became one of their top trending and most-viewed titles. Which led to Hugh and I talking again about, ‘What is this love for Real Steel?’ Kind of this realization that, ‘Well wait, we love it that much too.’ We’ve always loved it that much too. It’s one of those ‘never say never’, even though it feels like the clock has run out on that window of opportunity. It feels like that fan love and that audience hasn’t gone away. So, who knows?”

The titular movie has a stellar cast featuring Hugh Jackman, Dakota Goyo,Evangeline Lilly, Anthony Mackie, and Olga Fonda, among more. The project earned critical acclaim from the critics, grossing nearly $300 million at the global box office.
