Jennifer Lawrence won the Best Actress Oscar at the age of 22 for her role in the 2012 film,Silver Linings Playbook. While Lawrence delivered an exceptional performance, many news outlets reported thatThe Hunger Gamesactress got the role after Anne Hathaway dropped out of the project. It was reported that Hathaway had to choose between this film andThe Dark Knight Risesdue to a scheduling conflict, and she chose the latter.

However, Hathaway has recently debunked these reports and shared that she did not drop the role, rather the role was no longer made available to her. She further clarified that Lawrence had no idea about any casting issues.

Anne Hathaway Exposed The Media Lie Surrounding Her Missed Role
Anne Hathawayappeared alongsideVictoria Beckhamin the Bravo TV show,Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. During one of the segments, fans had the opportunity to ask questions to both celebrities. One of the questions directed at theLes Misérablesactress concerned her rumored casting inSilver Linings Playbook. While the question was about her other roles she had turned down,The Internactress took the opportunity to clarify about being replaced byJennifer Lawrence.
Hathaway made it clear that she did not turn down the role, but that she was no longer offered the role. She further urged the media not to involve Lawrence, while also adding that theJoyactress was worthy of her Oscar. Hathway shared on theAndy Cohen show:

“At the risk of just bringing up something from the past because it’s all good and it all worked out the way that did. I didn’t turn down the role in Jennifer Lawrence’s. It was made no longer available to me. Someone told the media that I had turned it down, but that’s not actually the truth. […] Please, I’m asking the media, don’t ask Jennifer about it. She actually had nothing to do with it except be great in the part and win an Oscar for it.”
As for the actual question, Hathaway politely declined to answer, as she didn’t want to put another actress in such a spot. She added that these actresses have no influence on casting decisions, except to deliver great performances at the chance they get.

Russell, in the past including the acclaimed film,The Fighter. However, a report fromBusiness Insiderstated that a financial feud had arisen between the actor and the director.
The reported feud involved Anne Hathaway, who had become Hollywood’s lucky charm after a series of successful projects to her name. Wahlberg set a clause in his contract stipulating that if theDevil Wears Pradaactress left the project, the production would owe him $900,000. None of the involved parties confirmed these reports, but Wahlberg and Russell never worked together again.
