James Cameron Trusts In HisAvatarSequel Despite Having A Massive Budget

WhatAvatar: The Way of Waterbrings is an entirely new experience for fans as it explores oceans, families, and threats of both the humans and the people from Pandora. A majority of it sees the beauty of the Na’vi and their planet, the creatures that reside there, and all that lies under the ocean. However, its huge budget might just put it on the line if it does not do as well asJames Cameronhopes for, with the series seeing an end sooner than later.

“We would find a way to create as much as we could to finish the saga, round it off. We’d find an earlier offramp and then see if maybe the cost of production could come down through technical advances in the future and then revisit it. So, it ain’t over ‘til it’s over, basically.”

Even though the director had to miss his own premiere due to covid, he still holds a lot of hope and is optimistic about the movie. While a majority of his movies have been massive successes, theTerminatorfranchise never got a chance to have an ending via Cameron’s work. So while a lot of his work may hold confidence, not all work out.

James Cameron Addressed His Work And How He Could Make A Five Parter Avatar Franchise Work

While in an interview, James Cameron explained how he would deal with the franchise ifAvatarwould end up being a failure. This would have especially been possible considering that something similar happened to Peter Jackson’sLord of the Ringsseries as well.

“It’s definitely doable, and it would be satisfying. Wouldn’t be as satisfying to me because what happens is, after [Avatar 3], the story goes in a really unexpected direction and three is a natural stopping point. We enter a whole new problem and then that whole problem absorbs Movie 4 and Movie 5. So it’s a natural stopping point.”

Although James Cameron stays strong so as to not think about a potential failure for something he worked so massively hard on, he does have a plan, possibly ending the franchise after its third movie if the box office does not receive it as well as he would have hoped for.

Avatar: The Way of Waterwill be available to watch in theatres from 16th December 2022.
