Despite sharing the action genre and incorporating some action sequences, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald have emphasized a distinctive element that sets it apart from the Primetime Emmy-nominated series. During a recent interview, they revealed the deliberate choices made for their new series, titledObliterated.
The action comedy-drama follows an elite US armed forces team who successfully prevented a deadly threat to Las Vegas, only to discover the real threat amid their celebratory night out. Now intoxicated, they have to navigate through the haze to locate and neutralize the actual bomb to save the day.

Cobra KaiCreators Had to Avoid Flawless Action Sequences
Cobra Kai,starringRalph Macchio,William Zabka, andXolo Maridueña, is known to feature several action sequences. The makers of the show recently reflected on working on the popular martial arts series and their upcoming Netflix action comedy drama,Obliterated.
Schlossberg shared the difference between the action sequences of both shows and how they had to “unlearn” some of the things for their new series. He shared that whileCobra Kai’saction sequences are “crisp and clean,”they did not follow the same forObliterated. As perCinemaBlend, he said,
“And our characters in Obliterated are wasted. So, you know, the fighting has to be a little messier and sloppier so you have to unlearn a little bit of what we know from Cobra Kai to do the action in Obliterated.”
However, they also shared that their experience working onThe Karate Kidspin-off came in handy for their new show. Schlossberg said that it was especially helpful to film the hand-to-hand combat sequences in the upcoming R-rated Netflix series.

Hayden Schlossberg is Excited to Return toCobra KaiFor its Final Season
The creative trio of Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald have worked onCobra Kaisince 2018 and have released five seasons so far. The series is renewed for a sixth and final season on Netflix, and Schlossberg has shared that they are excited to return to it.
During an interview withScreen Rant, he shared that after working on five seasons, they wanted to try something fresh.“We were chomping at the bit to do something new, work with new characters, new storylines, and a totally different genre–hard R and all of that,”he shared, talking aboutObliterated.
And now that they have finished the series, which is set to premiere on Netflix on 30 November, Schlossberg shared that they are excited to return toCobra Kai. And he has promised that the final season of the show would be as “awesome” as it should be.
