The revealtrailerforGod of War‘s upcoming expansion calledValhallacame as a huge surprise for viewers of Game Awards 2023, as the show wasted no time in announcing it, making it one of the earlier standout moments.

Fans of the iconic father-son duo may be a bit disappointed, but series veterans will be extremely excited to find out that the latest Norse adventure will be a Kratos-only expedition. Players will get to join arguably the best video game dad to ever exist as he makes his way to the warrior “paradise” Valhalla.

Santa Monica Studio promises “a deeply personal and reflective journey” for Kratos in the upcomingGod of War Ragnarokexpansion, which is to be expected considering all of the grand and epic disastrous scenarios that went down in the base game. First revealed at Game Awards 2023, Kratos will be witnessing even more bizarre moments in the future, things that he and the fans “never thought possible.”

The most interesting aspect of the upcoming expansion is that it will be “inspired by the roguelite genre,” meaning that players will have to take on a series of “challenges” without dying, because once they do, it will start back from square one.
