As the film has begun airing in multiple countries, fans have come out of the woodwork thoroughly disappointed with what the post-credit scene of the film has to offer. Allegedly, the scene was expected to be a huge turning point for the MCU but seems to have fallen short of the wow factor that fans have been expecting the MCU to deliver.

Fans are devastated at the post-credit scene of The Marvels
The post-credit scene ofThe Marvelshas a groundbreaking reveal, a development that changed the MCU forever. The post-credit scene has Monica Rambeau waking up in the hospital. To her surprise, her mother is there, who was confirmed to have passed inWandaVision. Not only is her mother alive in the alternate universe, but the universe that the character has ended up in is on that is familiar to long-time fans of Marvel.
Also present with Maria Rambaue, played by Lashana Lynch, is Dr. Henry McCoy, played by Kelsey Grammer, otherwise known toX-Menfans as Beast. However, while this was supposed to be a huge reveal, fans were once again disappointed at the CGI used, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to voice their disapproval:

I miss when movies had to try. They didn’t have a guaranteed amount of money running back to them so they had to put in actual effort. Now we have the laziest movies imaginable in the modern world. More CGI and worse outfits.

Audiences, who were once excited about the inclusion of the mutants in the MCU, seem to be fed up with giving Marvel and Disney chances to bring in the mutants. While the studio seems to be leveraging the Multiverse to bring in these beloved characters, fans are not happy with how they are being treated in the story. Be it Professor Charles Xavier inMultiverse of Madness, or Kamala Khan being changed from an Inhuman to a Mutant, fans seem to have given up on the prospect of mutants in the mainline Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Marvels might be heading to a trainwreck, but there is hope yet
Fans are furious at what the post-credit scene had to offer. The Marvelsis already projected to be the worst-grossing film in the MCU so far, bringing inpre-release salesthat are below whatThe Flashwas able to bring in. Further, fans have mentioned their disappointment on social media, being fed up with how films are being made for the sake of making content.
Fans would have clearly preferred prosthetics and makeup over what is considered half-baked CGI. While the character seemed more in line with the comic version of Beast, fans have not taken kindly to this version of the character. This is especially concerning, given that this was supposed to be another big reveal bringing in the Mutants into the MCU.
While these reactions seem depressing, there is a light of hope. Perhaps The Marvels was the wrong movie to put in such a cameo. However, the next Marvel Cinematic Universe film would be Deadpool 3, which is currently scheduled to be released on June 23, 2025. Given that the Actor’s strikes have ended, the film might still take a significant time to get back on track, so fans can expect this date to move. However, since the reveal of Hugh Jackman in the Wolverine costume, Marvel might be on its way to getting back on track. Perhaps the first full-length appearance of the mutants will finally put an end to the depression that the MCU has found itself in.
