“We very much took advantage of our friendship and our relationship for this film,”DiCaprio stated.“I know the fact that she’s such a good friend of mine, we know each other so well, we know that we could let go. There’s no hidden anything. It’s two people just trying to do their best and just pushing each other.”
They had to be in touch with emotions that required heavy focus and work. The best way they found to do so was to connect their actual friendship with their relationship in the movie. The movie revolved around a marriage on the verge of being destroyed. DiCaprio and Winslet knew that they could benefit from their bond and because of how much they know each other, both of them helped bring out each other’s emotions.

“I want to be on the set with him every day. I want to spend as much time with him as possible. It wasn’t about equal roles, even. It was, I want to bleed that experience dry. I really do, because I know what’s there to be had, and anything less than that wouldn’t have seemed as special.”
She was constantly praising him and talking about him to an extent that Winslet had to point out as if it felt that DiCaprio was her husband. She even added how she would go to work every single day just so she could spend time with the actor.
