But the road wasn’t always smooth for the director. Talking about how many sacrifices had to be made for the real deal, Lucas revealed in aninterviewthat he was quite disappointed with how studios and fans treated and abused his franchise during and after its release.

“What happens when there’s something new, people have a tendency to overdo it. They abuse it. Now, there were two things that got abused with Star Wars and still being abused. One, when Star Wars cam out everybody said ‘Oh, it’s a silly movie. It’s just a bunch of space battles and stuff. It’s not real'”

He further continued,

With a controversial remark against Hollywood, the director admitted that the studios can legally milk a franchise but that is what makes the movies dull and boring. Stating that a franchise is killed for money, George Lucas feels that studios have a license to kill these great franchises by abusing them beyond the limit.

“Other thing that got abused, naturally in a capitalist society, especially in an American point of view which is the studios and everything said ‘Wow, we can make a lot of money. This is the license to kill.”

Having no role in directing movies, Lucas enjoys his life wherein he gets credit every time a Star Wars character is used.
