Another day, another apology from the developers of a video game, and this time it is related toWayfinder. Due to a horrible launch and an extremely poor servers, the game has received heavy backlash from gamers and highly negative reviews on Steam. The upcoming action MMO recently had its early access launch on PC, and unfortunately, it was a complete and utter disaster.

The Wayfinder Early Access Launch was a Complete Disaster

This terrible reception is especially disappointing because, with its trailer, Airship Syndicate’sWayfinderlooked too vibrant and fresh to have this fate. Considering how the studio is the one behind beloved games likeDarksidersandRuined King, while the game’s publisher, Digital Extremes, hasWarframein its portfolio. Fans were really looking forward to their combined upcoming title, but sadly, the excitement did not last for long.

The Wayfinder Early Access Launch was a Complete Disaster

The early access launch ofWayfinderfaced troubles with its servers just because of the huge volume that the anticipated MMO video game attracted to itself. This led to annoyingly long waiting times for people who were looking forward to finally trying it out, so naturally, gamers did not appreciate it one bit and absolutely demolished it on Stream with their reviews. Keeping in mind that although the full game will be free to play when it does come out in six months, the early access actually cost $20, which put further salt in players’ wounds.

Regarding the unfortunateWayfinderearly access situation, developer Airship Syndicate claimed that the game’s queue system got overwhelmed instantly due to more and more players joining in every minute, even when compared to its beta. Players faced issues such as having to wait hours to play the game until the connection just never went through, resetting the wait time. There were also reports of some lucky players who got connected to a game, but their luck quickly ran out because of random disconnections after just a couple of minutes.

That’s not where the complaints aboutWayfinderend, as more gamers reported that even in the game’s premium Founder’s Pack bundle, there were missing items that were supposed to be free, while also being angry about its in-game pricing being exploitative. It’s safe to say that the past week has not been ideal for both the MMO’s fans and developers. The mass disappointment can be seen on the game’s Steam review page, which has around 9,000 entries, with 70% of them being negative.

Wayfinder Developer and Publisher Apologize to Fans

The developer and publisher ofWayfindertook to Steam the very next day to address the issues with the game’s early access launch and to apologize to fans. They admitted that the whole situation “sucked” and that “There is no other way to say it,” mentioning people who specifically bought the incomplete Founder’s Packs and those who just couldn’t get connected to any of the matches. It was clear that they were ashamed for letting down gamers who had been “believing in” them and their “vision.”

Continuing with their apology aboutWayfinder, they wrote that “Early Access” is supposed to be “a conversation between a studio and the community” so they can build the game together, while also admitting that even though they said they’d “be transparent and open with the community,” they ended up “failing to deliver.” The developer and publisher both took responsibility and said, “we apologize,” admitting that they “fell short” of “high expectations” from fans.
