The second film though, was not as well received as the first one and did not receive favorable critiques as well. This failure, therefore, put a stop to any chances of a 3rd film in the series. ButThe Amazing Spider-Man 3could have been a distinct possibility based on Garfield’s assessment of how the narrative was structured.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3Had The Potential To Be Made

Andrew Garfield’sThe Amazing Spider-Manseries was more emotional and serious takes that delved into deeper aspects of Spider-Man’s past. While Garfield’s performance was praised in both films,The Amazing Spider-Man 2unfortunately did not set the box office alight. The lukewarm critical and audience responses have arrested the possibility of making a 3rd film which was very much on the cards at the time.

Based on Andrew Garfield’s assessment of the first two films,The Amazing Spider-Man 3could have had the potential to carry the story forward in a cohesive and coherent manner. In an in-depth interview withFilm4, the cast ofThe Amazing Spider-Man 2sat down to discuss the film. Garfield pointed out the beauty of the narrative that allowed a seamless continuation of the character’s story from the first to the second film.

”It was really exciting to get back to it because we had a foundation that was really solid. Each step led to the next. It’s simple filmmaking 101 of course. We were lucky in this respect.”

If Garfield’s words are any indication,The Amazing Spider-Man 3would have continued Peter Parker aka Spider-Man’s narrative smoothly. Unfortunately, this dream is still to be realized, 10 years after the 2nd film.
