Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone Bonded Instantly onCrazy, Stupid, LoveAuditions
Ryan Gosling andEmma Stoneworked for the first time inCrazy, Stupid, Love. The duo auditioned for the comedy film and the two hit it off instantly. Gosling and Stone improvised their scenes together and bonded instantly and formed a natural connection during the auditions for the film. Gosling talked about it while appearing at theSanta Barbara International Film Festivalin 2017 saying,
“The first time we worked together was in this audition for Crazy, Stupid, Love. We read the lines and whatever, we did the scene a few times but we were kind of improvising before and after the actual scene. The directors were like, ‘Why don’t you guys just kind of improvise the scene’. There’s just something uncomfortable about it (improvising).

It’s a scary thing to do especially in the audition because you don’t know your characters, you don’t know each other…We couldn’t shut up, it was lots to talk about and it was very easy. Improvisation just creates a connection in a scene because you’re creating it together, you really have to listen to one another, you have to really be there and I think that kind of set a foundation for how to work.”
The duo soon became the new celebrated on-screen couple when the film was released in 2011. Both of them starred together again inGangster SquadandLa La Land. Their on-screen chemistry in both films was also loved by critics and fans.La La Landespecially received a lot of accolades and nominations for various awards at the Golden Globes and Oscars. Stone won her Oscar for Best Actress forLa La Land.

Britney Spears is Relieved That She Didn’t Do Ryan Gosling’sThe Notebook
Britney Spears had a short-lived acting career in the early 2000s. She found separating from the fictional character she played in a film calledCrossroadshard as she went full-on method in her approach. She was also considered for the female lead inRyan Gosling‘sThe Notebookbut she had already decided that she was not gonna continue acting. She wrote about it in her memoirWoman in Me, saying (viaEntertainment Weekly)
“The experience wasn’t easy for me. My problem wasn’t with anyone involved in the production but with what acting did to my mind. I think I started Method acting — only I didn’t know how to break out of my character. I really became this other person. Some people do Method acting, but they’re usually aware of the fact that they’re doing it. But I didn’t have any separation at all. That was pretty much the beginning and end of my acting career, and I was relieved.

The Notebook casting came down to me and Rachel McAdams, and even though it would have been fun to reconnect with Ryan Gosling after our time on The Mickey Mouse Club, I’m glad I didn’t do it. If I had, instead of working on my album In the Zone I’d have been acting like a 1940s heiress day and night.”
Gosling currently has the action thrillerThe Fall Guyas his next film scheduled to be released in theaters on July 12, 2025. He is also set to reunite with Margot Robbie for anOcean’s Elevenprequel film.
