Repercussions of the Scene, Leading to the Blowout

In an interview with The New Yorker, Brooke Shields revealed that during the filming of her guest appearance on the popular sitcom Friends, Andre Agassi, who was present in the audience, did not share her enthusiasm for a particular scene that portrayed a character named Ford in an eccentric manner. According to Shields, Agassi deemed her performance as making “a fool” out of him and stormed out of the taping.

“Andre was in the audience supporting me, and he stormed out. He said, “Everybody’s making fun of me. You made a fool of me by that behavior.” I’m, like, “It’s comedy! What is the matter with you?”

The Troubled Marriage of Brooke Shields and Andre Agassi

Agassi and Shields were married between 1997 and 1999, and their romance was heavily covered by the media. When they got married, it was viewed as a glamorous union of two prosperous and handsome people because they were both well-known celebrities at the time. Yet there were issues, and Agassi seems to have been particularly impacted by the Friends scene.

Agassi’s negative reaction to the scene is unknown, however, some people think he might have been possessive or jealous of Shields. The thought of his wife licking another man’s finger, even if it was just a made-up scene on a TV show, may have been too much for him to handle.
