Zack Snyder, known for starting the DC Extended Universe withMan of Steel, not only has a fantastic eye for visual space as a director but also for the herculean efforts put in by his cast to justify his vision in DC films. During the filming of the 2013 film, Henry Cavill chose hard work over steroids and was rewarded by Snyder in a rather delicious way.

Zack Snyder’s Superman Cut his Body Fat Level Like A Pro!

Henry Cavill, who surely wasn’t born like the Last Son of Krypton, threw in his heart and soul to get a body that fits the role of a lifetime. During the filming ofMan of Steel(2013), Cavill truly upped the ante when it comes to fitness goals. Instead of opting for steroids, the actor gave in months of rigorous training for his shirtless scenes.

From picking up legendary Gym Jones, perhaps the“world’s toughest gym”, and enrolling its trainer Mark Twight for an instant six-month mass-building regime, to cutting his calorie intake from 5000 to nearly 1500 for six weeks,The Witcheractor reached a“body fat level of just 7%,” something achieved by pros during body-building competition. He said about his trainer, Twight:

“He asked me a lot of questions about my goals. Then he asked, ‘would you like to do steroids or HGH to get you where you want to go?’. I immediately said no.’ And he said, ‘Good, because if you did, I wouldn’t train you.”

After creating the“best possible Superman physique”,Cavill returned to a“more manageable routine”once his shirtless scenes were shot. While Cavill gave it all for donning the red cape, it wasZack Snyderwho acknowledged his hard work and rewarded him with pizza and a whole tub of ice cream for his perseverance throughout the filming.

Zack Snyder’s Two-And-Half-Hour-Saga Is A Deeply Personal Affair

Zack Snyder is often trolled by critics as“an idiot”and“not a good storyteller,”a section of DC fans whom Snyder terms as a modern audience who cannot pick up his multi-layered approach to story-telling. As forMan of Steel(2013), the movie initially felt insensitive and excessive to a lot of DC fans for its“dark tone and CG-heavy.”

But in time, the two-and-a-half-hour saga was accepted as one the most deeply personal movies about alienation and isolation. While it took time for many fans to connect to the idea of a superhero, trapped between two worlds, and being pulled in two different directions by those who loved him, Henry Cavill certainly justified the job of playing the lonely Superman.

Another fine example stems from Snyder’s return to make his director’s cut withZack Snyder’s Justice Leaguein 2020. The version, often quoted as“a ‘funereal’, even though most funerals are shorter than four hours,”literally rose from the ashes.

The movie, which was released on HBO Max after a failed theatrical release was widely praised for its“style, action sequences, direction, and balance of emotional weight and humor.”It’s only fair to say that it takes time to get the hang of the SnyderVerse, and many hope to restore it.
